Green Products
Ceramic Cement is the greenest cement available. Here is a brief description on why it is considered a deep green product. Please call to discuss the possibility of using this product on your project.
Ceramic is made with a binder of non-toxic magnesium oxide/phosphate. (Mag/Phos concrete) Add recycled aggregates and a naturally beautiful countertop or sink can be created.
Countertops and sinks can be made with recycled glass creating a “deep green” alternative to Portland cement based products.
Benefits of Mag/Phos products compared to Portland Cement products:
- Promotes resource conservation because it is made from naturally occurring products.
- For every ton of Portland cement manufactured, one ton of CO2 is released into the atmosphere via out gassing from calcinations of raw materials.
- World wide the production of Portland Cement alone accounts for 6-8% of human generated CO2
- 55 gallons of oil are required to produce a single ton of Portland cement.
- Mag/Phos products are made from inert minerals, industrial waste stream materials, post consumer waste, fine and course aggregates which can also be made from recycled glass.
- Ingredients are blended in a low energy process, not “cooked” in a high energy kiln.
- No waste by-products are created in the manufacturing of Mag/Phos. Portland cement manufacturing creates tremendous amounts of waste and CO2 emissions.
- Bonds to traditional aggregates as well as a variety of cellulose materials such as wood chips, bamboo and straw.
- Cures to 9,000 to 12,000 psi creating extremely strong products
